Sketchbook Journaling Workshop with Janet Takahashi
The Brown Dog Gallery is pleased to have freelance artist and professional illustrator Janet Takahashi teach Sketchbook Journaling in beautiful McCloud, California at the base of Mount Shasta. Guided exercises and demonstrations will be taught in a supportive, interactive open manner in the most amazing setting that will provide endless sketching opportunities, both indoors and out. You will learn techniques with pen and ink sketches, how to use watercolors creatively, and how to build textural layers for journal pages. Learn to incorporate your own writings onto your sketchbook compositions
This event is open to all levels and will be held June 24th-26th at the Brown Dog Gallery, 307 Pine Street, McCloud, CA, 96057. Cost is $230.
Janet Takahashi is a freelance artist with a love of letters, specializing in calligraphy, illustration, bookbinding, sign painting and gilding. With a deep appreciation for nature and science, she paints in the field, working “en plein air”, capturing the scenery before her. Janet is an avid journal keeper and a professional illustrator for books and magazines. Journaling is her specialty and as a result, Sterling Publishing approached Janet to write a book on the subject, ARTFUL JOURNALS.
“This is a rare opportunity for artists of all levels to come and learn from a masterful illustrator,” says Claudia Ellis, owner of the Brown Dog Gallery. “We are excited to have Janet teach this class and feel McCloud is the perfect town to inspire visiting artists.”
